Police in Auki, Malaita Province today (15 January) witnessed a reconciliation ceremony between two parties on Manaoba Island, in North Malaita.
Provincial Police Commander, Malaita Province Superintendent Timothy Apaesi says, “The ceremony was to reconcile two parties who were involved in a row last month over the location of a B-Mobile tower on the Island.”
PPC Apaesi says, “It is both parties that requested police to witness the reconciliation ceremony.”
Chiefs, a former Member of Parliament and church leaders were also present during the reconciliation ceremony.
PPC Apaesi adds, “The reconciliation involved a prayer, exchange of $500.00 cash and traditional feasting.”
“I would like to thank both parties for agreeing to reconcile in order to maintain peace in their community,” says PPC Apaesi.
