40-year-old victim wounded at Marau, in GP

Police at Marau in the Guadalcanal Province have apprehended a suspect for wounding a 40-year-old male at One Village, in the Hatare area of Marau Sound over the weekend.

Police allege that the suspect did strike the victim with an axe on the left side of his head and as a result he fell to the ground.

Provincial Police Commander, Guadalcanal Province Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “The incident happened on 13 January 2018. Upon receiving the report my officers from Marau attended to the incident and arrested the alleged suspect. The suspect was taken to the Marau Police Station and on 14 January was transported to Honiara for further investigation.”

With the assistance of Police at Marau the victim was transported to Marau Clinic and later transferred to the National Referral Hospital in Honiara for further medical assistance.

Superintendent Manetoga says, “The condition of the victim is alleged to be stable and is now in the care of medical authorities.”

“I appeal to both sides involved in the incident to refrain from taking the law into their own hands whilst police investigate it. I also appeal to any witness to the incident to come forward with information that could assist police with its investigations,” says PPC Manetoga.
