Yandina Police received the report and responded by attending the scene and apprehended the suspect and took her to Yandina Police Station where she was dealt with.
“Not only women and children can be victims of family violence. Men can also be victims and women can be charged under the Family Protection Act,” says Staff Sergeant Measly Kelo Veets, Operation Manager, Tulagi Police Station.
“It was alleged that the couple had an argument during which the wife allegedly injured her husband on his wrist with a knife,” added Sergeant Kelo.
The victim was rushed to Yandina Clinic and was referred to the National Referral Hospital in Honiara for further medical treatment.
Staff sergeant Kelo says, “This is a serious incident. The suspect was taken to Yandina Police Station where she was served with a Police Safety Notice, (PSN) as police continue to investigate the matter. I appeal to both sides not to take the law into their own hands but to assist police with their investigations.”
