The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is currently on standby to respond to any incident that might occur during this current bad weather affecting the country.
“In the past week all of Solomon Islands have been affected badly by the weather and we are continuing to work with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) on monitoring the weather affecting the country,” says Police Commissioner Matthew Varley
He adds, “Our job over the period is to be on standby to respond to any incidents that might threaten the safety of the community due to the bad weather and will continue to work with NDMO on that.”
Commissioner Varley says, “But that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t take precautions. We are appealing to the community to listen out to the warnings from the Metrology Service and NDMO and take care particularly around water ways. We ask parents and communities to look after especially children, stay away from rivers and streams particularly in areas of flooding.”
He says, “At this point in time we had a couple of search and rescue operations with some boats at sea and I am pleased to inform you that everyone has been located. They are all safe and well. We have no reports of any deaths or serious injuries at this point.”
