Spreading false rumours must be stopped

Provincial Police Commander Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu calls on people living around Noro and other parts of the province to refrain from spreading rumours on sensitive issues in the communities.

This came about after the sudden death of a male person in his 20’s at Noro Western Province on 6 February 2017.

“Spreading rumours is not a good practice as it only escalates problems between parties making matters tense therefore can lead to people talking the law into their own hands,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds: “We must refrain from this kind of practice of spreading rumours. People should instead assist the police with information to help with the investigation into the matter."

PPC Lenialu says, “Investigations into the matter is ongoing, therefore I appeal to the relatives of the deceased not to take the law into your own hands. Please come forward to the Police if you have any information, or call Noro Police on phone 61005 or Police Communication Centre on phone 23666.”
