The capability of the officers in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department for the safe use of Random Breath Testing (RBT) equipment and speed lazar cameras will be boosted following a two-day workshop held at the Rove Police Headquarter in Honiara from 16 – 17 May 2018.
Thirteen Police officers attended the Workshop. Two officers from Police National Community Policing Department, one officer from Guadalcanal Provincial Police and ten officers from Kukum Traffic Department.
“This training surely will boost our officer’s capability on safe systems for police enforcing the road safety in the areas like RBT and speed lazar cameras when used,” says Supervising Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioner, Gabriel Manelusi.
He adds: “This training will also give some insights to Police officers on how to operate speed lazars on our roads.”
“This is an ongoing program of World Health Organisation (WHO) and I would like to acknowledge and thank the ongoing technical support made by WHO technical advisor on Prevention – Jonathan Passmore. I do thank the WHO country Rep Solomon Islands Doctor Sevil for her great assistance and support towards this Road Safety Policing Program. RSIPF benefits a lot on this training on capacity and capability of the RSIPF officers.” says Supervising Commissioner Manelusi.
