Police in Tulagi, Central Province are assisting the Central Provincial Government through the provision of training for security officers employed by the Province.

The Training, from 20 – 25 May 2018 is being conducted by the Provincial Police Commander Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta and her officers.

Speaking during the opening of the Training, Deputy Provincial Secretary Metcalfe Puia says, “I want to thank the PPC and your officers for the positive response to our request to train our security officers. This is part of the Provincial Human Resources Development plan 2018 – 2022.”

Whilst addressing the participants PPC Leta says, “As security officers employed by the provincial government, your job is to protect your employer’s properties, assets and people as well as prevent risks and crime. Report any crime you may encounter to police. Your presence will also deter law breakers from committing any crime.”

She adds: “There are five attributes of a great security officer and they are honesty, alertness, fitness, good communication skills and the ability to serve your client’s needs.”

“I believe that by going through this week-long training, you will understand your role better. We will also cover other topics including RSIPF key messages, the Crime Prevention Strategy, the problem solving model, four drivers of crime, leadership qualities and procedures to report crime,” says PPC Leta.
