Police at Ringi in the Western Province are investigating a fatal accident at Kolombangara Island on 25 May 2018, which resulted to the death of a man in his 30’s.
The deceased was believed to be working for Kolombangara Forestry Plantation Limited (KFPL) as a laborer.
It is alleged that the man was travelling in a vehicle celebrating the victory of the winning candidate for Gizo, Kolombangara constituency and allegedly jump out from the vehicle and landed on the gravel and seriously sustained injury on the head. The man was rushed to Gizo hospital for medical attention and unfortunately medical staff would not be able to save his life.
Western Province, Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “I appeal to the general public more especially at Ringi area in Kolombangara Island to assist police investigation with more information about the alleged accident.”
“My condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased at this time of bereavement,” says PPC Lenialu.
Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “I also appeal to relatives of the deceased to assist police with its investigation and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.”
