Police investigate death of a 30-year-old man

Police at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a death of a 30-year-old man on 31 May 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says “Currently my officers are investigating the death incident which occurred on 31 May 2018.”

PPC Sitai says, “The suspect allegedly punched the deceased on his head during a drinking brawl at Huro village, a kilometre away in west of Kirakira township.”

Mr Sitai says, “My officers have arrested the alleged suspect early in the morning on 1 June 2018.The suspect is in police custody for further police investigation.”

“I would like to thank members of public at Kirakira for supporting police which resulted in the successful arrest of the suspect,” says Superintendent Sitai.

Mr Sitai says, “I appeal to general public to come forward with information that may help police with its investigation.”

“My condolence to the family of the deceased during this time of sadness. May his soul rest in peace with the almighty God,” says PPC Sitai.

He also appeals to relatives and friends of both parties to remain calm and not to take the laws into your own hands as the matter is with the police.
