Police investigate suspicious fire incident at SINU Kukum Campus

The Fire and Rescue Services of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the burning of a house at the Kukum Campus of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) in East Honiara on 23 June 2018.

Director of the Fire and Rescue Services, Superintendent Rodney Kuma says, “The fire incident was reported to us at about 2pm on Saturday 23 June and we responded accordingly.”

Director Kuma says, “The house was completely burnt down with its contents. Fortunately there were no deaths reported as the building which belongs to SINU was unoccupied at that time.”

“We are investigating the cause of the fire as it is suspicious especially when no one was occupying the house at the time of the incident,” says Mr Kuma.

“I want to appeal to anyone that was around that house on the afternoon of last Saturday and may have any information to come forward to your nearest police station or contact the RSIPF Fire and Rescue Services on phone 24476 or get in touch with the National Communication Centre on 23666 or the police toll free 999,” says Director Kuma.
