Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have concluded four weeks of Public Order Management (POM) intensive training at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara in preparation for the National General Elections in 2019.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Simpson Pogeava says, “The Public Order Management (POM) and Operational Safety Training (OST) training was aimed at qualifying the officers to become trainers to qualify other officers across the whole RSIPF.”
AC Pogeava says, “This is a solid foundation in preparation for the National General Election in 2019.”
“I am happy about the successful outcome of the training although participants and instructors are exhausted after the training but it is a task well done."
AC Pogeava adds: "As result of your team work during the training you are now can certify and qualify other officers in OST and POM training.”
He explains, "As part of the training a demonstration was conducted at Hells Point east of Honiara to display what they learned during the four weeks."
Mr Pogeava emphasises: “I encourage you to keep to the standard and implement what you learned during the four weeks training. I challenge you to make those who are under your command stay alert.”
AC Pogeava says, “I acknowledge the support rendered by the Solomon Island Police Development Program (SIPDP) to the RSIPF. And I would like to thank the advisors and instructors for their tireless effort in completing the training.”
The training, which was held from 4 to 22 June, was attended by officers from throughout the provinces and Honiara. All the participants received certificates at the end of the training.
