Police in Honiara charge 11 for drunk driving

The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has arrested and charged eleven drivers for drunk driving during a traffic operation in Honiara on the night of 7 July 2018.

“The traffic operation was carried out to ensure that our drivers and road users abide by our traffic laws and to ensure that the roads are safe for all,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

He adds: “We have arrested and charged eleven drunk drivers, two others for careless driving, the other one for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle.”

“I want to remind our good drivers and vehicle owners to always abide by our traffic laws. Do not drink and drive. Make sure that all your vehicles are road worthy,” says Inspector Surimalefo.

He emphasises: “The safety of those on our roads rests on us drivers. As we are continue with the MACFest activities we will be experiencing a lot of people on our roads. Drive with due care and diligence,” says Inspector Surimalefo.
