Police at Yandina in the Central Province have conducted an awareness talk at the start of a futsal tournament which kicked off in the Russell Islands on 9 July 2018.
Forty teams from within the Russell Islands for both women and men are participating in the Tournament which is organized by the Central Province Football Association and the Russell Islands Football Association.
Officer Commanding Station Yandina, Staff Sergeant Thomas Fakatonu presented on how to respect law and order and members of the Crime Prevention Committees established throughout the Province.
Police at Yandina will continue to provide high visibility presence during the Tournament to ensure it proceeds peacefully.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Central Province Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “I wish to thank the Organizing Committee for staging this very important tournament which will unite all the communities through sports. I also wish to appeal to all the participating teams to have the spirit of sportsmanship so that they can enjoy the tournament in a crime free environment.”
