Traffic Police arrest seven in Honiara over the weekend

Police Traffic Officers in Honiara have made several arrests over the weekend on the capital’s roads.

“Three people were charged for careless driving, two charged for drunken driving, one charged for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and one for reckless and dangerous driving,” says Director Traffic, Inspector Brian Surimalefo.

He adds: “Those charged have been released to appear before the court on their specific dates.”

He adds: “It’s good to see that the number of drunk driving has dropped, but that does not mean that there are no drunk drivers are out there.”

“I want to appeal to our citizens that if you are suspicious of drunk drivers along the road, report them to the Kukum Traffic Department or the Police Communication Centre. We can work together to make our roads safer. By doing this you can also contribute by saving someone else’s life,” says Inspector Surimalefo.

Kukum Police Station can be contacted on phone 22336 or call the Police Communications Centre on 23666 or Police toll free line 999.
