Police investigate alleged rape of two girls in Choiseul

Police at Taro in Choiseul Province are investigating the alleged rape of two girls on 9 July 2018 at Vanga Village in South Choiseul.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The alleged rape incident happened when the two victims were returning in the early evening from a fundraising event. On their way back the three men pulled both females into the bush and a suspect allegedly raped one of the victims.”

PPC Eria adds: “The other victim struggled with another suspect and called for help and a group of boys nearby intervened and took her out from the suspect.”

“The suspects are still at large and I appeal to the people of Vanga Village to assist my police officers with any information. I call on both parties in this alleged to refrain from taking the law in to your own hands while investigation continue,” says PPC Eria.

Superintendent Eria says, “This is a sad incident that should not happen in our communities. Parents and guardians must look after our children. When they move around make sure an adult accompanies them.”
