Police arrest and charge five youth for causing nuisance in Central Province

Police in Central Province have arrested and charged five youth for causing nuisance and using abusive words to Police on 5 August 2018 at the Trimax area in Tulagi town.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent Patricia Leta says, “It was alleged that the boys were playing loud music in the Trimax area of Tulagi town at late hours. Police verbally warned them about 2 am this morning 6 August 2018 but they continued to ignore the warnings.”

PPC Leta explains, “Police received the report of the loud music and proceeded to warn the youth. However, when the police went back to check, the boys continued to play the loud music. The police arrested them and also confiscated a blue tooth speaker.”

Superintendent Leta says, “Police arrested five youth ranging in age from 17 to 20 years old.”

PPC Leta says, “I wish to appeal to all good parents and guardians within Tulagi town to look after our youth so that they are not involved in any criminal activities. It is our sole responsibility to ensure our youth must be law abiding citizens.”

“I would like to remind all the good people of Central Province that causing nuisance is a crime and it carries a custodial sentence of one year if found guilty. Tulagi Police will continue with the Zero Tolerance operation this weekend,” PPC Leta adds.

The five youth will be appearing in the Tulagi Court Circuit which will be held in October 2018.
