The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) International Law Enforcement Cooperation (ILEC) medal was presented to 32 members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) during a ceremony held in Port Moresby Monday 13 August 2018.
The RSIPF ILEC medal is awarded to a member of an international police force who has provided direct support to the RSIPF to assist its development and security in Solomon Islands.
“The 32 officers of the RPNGC who deservedly received the ILEC medal had served during the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) deployment in the country from 2003 to 2017. The RSIPF congratulates these officers for receiving their medals for a great job done in returning law and order to Solomon Islands,” says RSIPF Commissioner, Matthew Varley.
The RPNGC officers who received the medals ranged in rank from Senior Constables through to an Assistant Commissioner.
Commissioner Varley adds: “I would like to thank the PNG-Australian Policing Partnership (PNG-APP) for organising the medal ceremony for members of the RPNGC as the RSIPF is not able to it.”
A similar ceremony was expected to be done for other officers in the PNG city of Lae.
