The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has conducted its first Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) training in Isabel Province at Samasodu Village from 20 - 21 August 2018.
Thirty participants from seven villages in the Katova Ward attended the two-day training.
Speaking at the workshop RSIPF Deputy Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi says, “The Crime Prevention Strategy is one of RSIPF’s means to fight crime in our communities and societies. We roll out this workshop to train our community officers to look after our people in the absence of Police to reduce the fear of crime and criminal activities.”
He told the participants: “By equipping you with these skills and knowledge you can go out there and look after our communities and work together with our Police officers.”
At the same occasion, Provincial Police Commander Isabel Province, Superintendent Leonard Tahnimana says, “Crime Prevention Strategy is important to reduce and prevent crime happening in our communities. And by establishing Ward Crime Prevention Committees and providing training for the community-based members this is a great achievement for both our communities and the RSIPF.”
“I appeal to all Katova CPC members to continue to work with the police and I call on everyone in Isabel Province to support the Crime Prevention Strategy in our Province,” says PPC Tahnimana.
A similar training will be held at Kubolota Village, Maringe District in September 2018.
