Police conduct Crime Prevention training on Simbo Island

Police at Gizo in the Western Province have conducted Crime Prevention training for members of the Crime Prevention Committee and Council of Chiefs on Simbo Island on 4 August 2018.

Community Policing Officer at the Gizo Police Station, Sergeant (Sgt) Justina Fono Magu says, “There were 20 participants at the training including 12 members of the Council of Chiefs, with youth and women representatives.”

Sgt Magu says, “It was very interesting to hear the views of the participants about the Crime Prevention Strategy and how it will connect the police and communities to reduce criminal activities on Simbo using the SARA model. It is a great opportunity for each member to share their views on the Crime Prevention Strategy.”

Ms Magu adds: “During the training I reminded the participants about their roles and responsibilities to serve our communities and nation by working together to prevent crime before it happens.”

She says, “During the training police present some sport items to the participants as part of the relationship established between police and the people of Simbo Island.”

Supervising Operation Manager at the Gizo Police Station, Inspector Andy Fomani says, “I would like to thank the members of the Crime Prevention Committee on Simbo Island for making the effort to attend and participate in this very important training.”

“I want to remind all the good people of Western Province to work together and strengthen their relations with the police so we can work together to make sure our communities are free from crime,” says Inspector Fomani.
