RSIPF end two-day Open Day program in Honiara and provinces

Several hundred members of the public and school children attended the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Open Day at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara and the provincial stations held 27 – 28 September 2018.

The program at the Rove Police Headquarters saw the various RSIPF departments and units as wells as stakeholders set up information stalls to talk about the activities of the departments as well as how the stakeholders work together with the police to prevent crime from communities in the country.

At the provincial police stations, officers opened their doors to the public and school children and held sports activities as part of the Open Day which coincided with the Blue Ribbon Day on 28 September 2018.

Speaking at the closing ceremony at the Rove Police Sport Ground, Deputy Commissioner National Operation, Gabriel Manelusi says, “I want to thank the students and the public for visiting stalls since the opening. I hope you have learnt something new about the work of the various departments and units within the RSIPF.”

DC Manelusi adds: “I also want to thank our stake holders who have contributed one way or the other to the success of this Open Day program. It shows the cooperation between RSIPF and your various organisations as we work together to prevent crime from within our communities.”

“I also want to thank various assistant commissioners, Directors, ranks and files of the RSIPF for making this event a successful one. I know you have put in a lot of effort in preparing materials for your stalls and the actual presentation to our visitors,” says DC Manelusi.

RSIPF hopes to make the Open Day program an annual event to keep the public informed about the work that the Force continues to do to ensure that people live in a safe and secure environment in the country.
