RSIPF prepares for 2019 NGE with POM training in Makira-Ulawa Province

As part of its preparations for the 2019 National General Election, 23 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Makira-Ulawa Province underwent an intensive Public Order Management (POM) training from 16 – 19 October 2018 at Kirakira.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “I am grateful for the POM training as it has upskilled my officers in preparation for the National General Election (NGE) 2019. Not only on that but should there be any issue arising within the Province then I will be able to use the officers that have undergone the training.”

PPC Sitai explains: “The training has equipped my officers with necessary skills and fitness and now the people of Makira-Ulawa Province should have confidence in the police to attend to any civil disorder that might arise in the near future.”

He says, “I thank the instructors from the Police Response Team (PRT) in Honiara for conducting this very important training. I will make sure my officers put what they have learnt into practice. I now have a good number of police officers with skills and capacity to attend to any public disorder in Makira-Ulawa Province.”

PPC Sitai says, “It was a privilege that the Premier for Makira-Ulawa Province Hon. Stanley Siapu was able to witness the training program and expressed his thoughts on the need for such training.”
