Police arrest and charge a 29-year-old for alleged grievous harm in Choiseul Province

Police at Taro in Choiseul Province have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male suspect for allegedly punching and kicking a 45-year-old man from Rabakela Village in North West Choiseul on 27 October 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria says, “The grievous harm incident occurred at 2 am on Saturday 27 October 2018 at Taro Station.”

PPC Eria says, “It was alleged that the suspect attacked the victim by punching and kicking him at the Taro Market in the early hours of 27 October 2018.”
Superintendent Eria says, “As a result of the attack the victim was unconscious and his jaw was permanently dislocated.”

He says, “The victim was flown to the National Referral Hospital in Honiara for further medical attention on 28 October 2018.”

The suspect was arrested on the same day of the alleged incident on 27 October and has been released on bail to reappear in Court on 12 November 2018.

“I appeal to the relatives of both parties involved in this particular incident to refrain from taking the law in to your own hands but allow police to investigate the matter,” says PPC Eria.
