RSIPF appeals to landowners in Makira Ulawa Province to respect High Court Order

Police in Makira Ulawa Province appeal to landowners at Tawaroga Village in East Makira to adhere to a High Court Order not to disturb the operations of the Hagaparua Logging Company currently operating in their area.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Aggrieved and disturbing land owners of Tawaroga Village in East Makira were on 8 October 2018 issued with a High Court Order by the police following their ongoing disturbance to the operation of Hagaparua Logging Company.”

PPC Sitai explains: “Since the Company started operating in the area at the beginning of 2018, a handful of people have taken advantage of petty issues resolvable through dialogue to erect road blocks and demanding money and other material goods from the company management. This has disturbed the operation of the Company.”

“I appeal to the concerned landowners to understand the High Court Order and adhere to its content as failure would mean police will proceed to press charges against the people involved for contempt of court,” says PPC Sitai.
