The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Station, Matthew Varley today (13 November 2018) officially visited the largest police station in the country, the Honiara Central Police Station as well as Henderson Police Station in the Guadalcanal Province.
“As part of the preparations for major security operations coming up in the next few months, I have decided to visit these two police stations to congratulate the officers serving at these two stations for the great work they have done up to now and also to urge them to start focusing on the major operations that are coming up in the next few months,” says Commissioner Varley.
He explains: “Honiara City Police as well as officers at the Henderson Police Station have been involved in several large operations in the past months and I wish to take the opportunity to congratulate them personally for the great and professional work they have done. A lot of these officers work quietly in the background so I wanted to go down to their offices and thank them for their work and to tell them how proud I am of what they have achieved.”
“I also want to explain to them some of the changes in the leadership of the two stations as part of the preparations for major operations that are coming up including the Christmas and New Year Festivities and of cause the 2019 National Election,” says Commissioner Varley.
The changes in the leadership include the appointment of the new Assistant Commissioner National Capital and Crime Prevention, Simpson Pogeava; new Honiara City Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo and new PPC Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea.
“These changes have been done for a purpose and that is to ensure there is strong leadership in these positions. I want to urge all the officers serving under this new leadership to give them all your support,” says Commissioner Varley.
Commissioner Varley told the officers at the two stations visited: “I ask you all to work harder and work together with your new PPCs. We have a huge challenge ahead of us and we will be tested like never before. This is the first National General Election after the Regional Assistance Mission (RAMSI) ended in mid-2017 and so the country and the world will be watching us.”
“I have the confidence that the RSIPF which includes officers at both Honiara Central and Henderson will deliver a save and free NGE 2019,” says Commissioner Varley.
