The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has lost another of its officers following the death of Police Sergeant Jimmy Misimake Mao

RSIPF officers carry the casket of late Misimake

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has lost another of its officers following the death of Police Sergeant Jimmy Misimake Mao who passed away at the Kilu’ufi Hospital near Auki on the night of Tuesday 27 November after a short illness.

The late Sergeant Misimake had served in the RSIPF for 27 years. He was Officer-In-Charge of the Maritime Unit in Malaita Province when he passed away.

The late Officer who was from Ambu Village near Auki started his long service in the RSIPF as a police driver in July 1991 and was confirmed as a permanent officer of the RSIPF in July 1993.

Announcing the death of the late Misimake, RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley says, “During his service in the RSIPF, the late Sergeant Misimake was awarded several Commissioner’s Commendation Certificates and Appreciation Letters for his excellent performance.”

In 1993 he was awarded the Commissioner’s Commendation certificate for alertness, observant, dedication, intelligent use of information and excellent team work that led to the arrest of three criminals and their subsequent court conviction.”

The late Misimake was awarded the provincial police commander’s appreciation letter in 2010 for the successful arrest of a known dangerous criminal.

Commissioner Varley says, “The untimely death of the late Sergeant Misimake is not only a great loss to his immediate family but the RSIPF family. Our deepest condolences go to his beloved wife Rose, his children and immediate relatives including his brothers and sisters.

Thank you for allowing the late Sergeant Misimake to serve in the RSIPF and the people of Solomon Islands.”

“I also extend my sympathies to the Provincial Police Commander Malaita Province and all his officers for losing a very close colleague so suddenly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time,” says Commissioner Varley.

The Assistant Commissioner, National Capital and Crime Prevention, Simpson Pogeava represented the Commissioner at the funeral service for the late Sergeant Misimake held at Auki this afternoon (29 November 2018).
