Police in Guadalcanal Police are investigating the alleged rape of a young girl on a date in October 2018 at Alligator Creek East of Honiara.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “In October the victim was accompanied by her two cousin brothers to go fishing at Alligator Creek.”

PPC Thugea explains: “As they were still fishing, a man appeared holding a bush knife, and approached the victim and invited her to go to another creek which he said had more fish. The victim then followed the man.”

Chief Superintendent Thugea adds: “The man left the victim under a tree and he went to a house and spoke with some people there. He returned to the young girl and led her into a nearby bush.”

PPC Thugea says, “It is alleged that the suspect was raped at this location. It was not until 9 December 2018 that the victim told her mother she was then taken to the Pikinini Clinic in Honiara,” says Mrs Thugea.

The suspect is still unknown but is believed to be residing in the Alligator Creek area.

Police call on the community in this area to assist with information that may help the investigation.
