Twenty seven Close Personal Protection (CPP) officers in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) graduated after a-five-week Close Personnel Protection (CPP) Training program at Rove Police Headquarters on 7 December 2018.

Eight officers of the RSIPF Police Response Team (PRT) officers also graduated making a total participation of 35 officers.

There were nine female officers in the group who also graduate with certificate on CPP Basic Training.

In his closing remarks, Supervising Deputy Commissioner (DC), National Operation Support Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “My sincere congratulations on completing the 2nd CPP Surge Course – you should be justly proud of your achievement. But you should look at this as the start of your training. Indeed, you should always look to learn.”

Supervising DC Mangau explains: “This training has been about teaching you the basics, to provide a competency, but it is also about confidence in your abilities and skills, and that of your colleagues. After all, as we have previously discussed, CPP is about team work and being a team player.”

He adds: “Working in CPP means being professional, to be proud of what you do and how you do it. It is about being an Ambassador. Not just an Ambassador for your Unit, or even just the RSIPF, but about being an Ambassador for your country.

Mr Mangau says, “You need to lead by example. Even as a Constable, you need to set the right standard, to show others how to behave, how to look and be professional.”

A representative of the course participants, Police Constable Antony Piringimatawa says, “This course has equipped us with some new skills that will assist us in our policing duties especially in a CPP environment. As a CPP officer, I believe the class lessons and field scenarios have been helpful and interesting to the participants.”
