Police arrest, charge and remand a suspect for store break-in

Police at Gizo in Western Province arrested, charged and remanded a 27-year-old suspect for alleged store break-in at Lengana Village on Simbo Island in Western Province on the 4 December 2018.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu says, “It was alleged that the accused went inside the victim’s family home and intent to steal. He climb up lander steps and tries to open the main door but it was locked. He broke the window removed the glasses and unlocked door from inside.”

PPC Lenialu says, “It was further alleged that the suspect went inside canteen and open the door. He enter inside the canteen broke the lock pad of the packing case and open it. He pulled out a blue hand bag basket and stole a hard cash and later escaped.”

Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “The suspect was dealt with and charged with for alleged store break-in under section 300 subsection (a) subsection (2) of the penal Code.”

Mr Lenialu says, “The suspect remanded in Gizo Correctional Centre and will appear at Gizo Magistrate Court on the 31 December 2018.”

“To avoid such activities to happen in our communities we must take some responsibilities to care for our own properties during this Christmas period. When you plan to go to another place inform your trusted neighbours to look after your properties to avoid such incidents,” says PPC Lenialu.
