Police in Western Province commends the assistance of some of the Crime Prevention Committees (CPC’s) in the Province for their supporting police during the past eleven months.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Western Province, Chief Superintendent Matthias Lenialu says “The CPC’s for Ward 7 Vonunu , Ward 10 Dovele, both on Vella la Vella Island and ward 3 on Simbo Island were actively involved in maintaining Law and Order in the communities.”

PPC Lenialu says, “Most of the anti-social behaviour involved are brewing, consumption of homebrew and other alcohol related offence. I would like to commend members of these three Ward CPC’s for their great work and cooperation with the police.”

Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “Such illegal activities are not accepted in our communities during upcoming festivities.”

PPC Lenialu says,

“To avoid this type of anti-social behaviours police donates sport equipment to engage youths to participate in sporting activities instead of brewing homebrew.”

“I appeal to the rest of the twenty six CPC’s in the Western Province to follow the example set by the three wards in Vella la Vella and Simbo and assist police in maintaining law and order in our communities,” says PPC Lenialu.

The establishment of the Crime Prevention Committees in the provincial wards is part of the implementation of the Crime Prevention Strategy of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force since 2016.
