Police raid kwaso and marijuana at White River
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) during an operation raided and seized marijuana and kwaso (homebrew) at White River 02 bus stop on 24 December 2018.
Police responded to information gathered that alleged sale and use of illegal drug known as marijuana, and local brewed alcohol known as kwaso at White River 02 Bus Stop.
“Although there was no arrest of any suspects as they escaped before my officers arrived at the targeted area, a good number of marijuana and kwaso were seized by police from a stall of escaped suspects,” says Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Barry Rush Saukiu.
PPC Saukiu says, “The street value of marijuana and kwaso was about hundred thousand plus.”
Superintendent Saukiu says, “The successful seizure of drugs and alcohol was possible because of good community support information. I encourage members of the public and community leaders to assist police as marijuana is illegal to grow, possess, use or sell in our country or export. Kwaso it is illegal to brew and distil without an approved license from the Minister responsible, and is illegal to sell any alcohol without a license.”
