Second suspect in relation to arm robbery at Capital Park arrested

Police this week arrest and charge the prime suspect of armed robbery at Capital Park that happen on 22 December 2018 in East Honiara.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara, Superintendent Barry Rush Saukiu says, “The 30-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday, 30 December 2018 at Burns Creek area in East Honiara.”

“The suspect has been charged today, 31 December 2018 with one count of robbery pursuant section 293 (1) (a) of the Penal Code. He is expected to appear before the Honiara Central Magistrate Court later today for a remand application,” says PPC Saukiu.

Superintendent Saukiu says,

“Two more suspects are still on the run, and my officers are working on information of their whereabouts. And I warn any relatives and friends of these suspects who may harbour them to rethink and surrender them to police because to harbour a wanted person by police is a crime if found can be arrested.”

It is alleged that during the arm robbery the suspect use a firearm to threaten the cashier of a shop that is located in the Capital Park building, while two other men collect the cash money from the cashier, and they escape by running across the main road towards Burns Creek area. The total cash stolen is around ten thousand dollars (SBD$10,000.00), and so far police yet to recover any of the stolen money.

Supervising PPC Saukiu appeals to chiefs, church leaders and the communities of Burns Creek to come forward with any information to assist the police investigation.
