On the 29 December 2018, Gizo Police Officers had extended their High visibility Patrol and Community Visitation to Kolobangara and Parara Island.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The Communities visited at Kolobangara Island are Vavanga, Ghatere, Hunda, Cana, Teme and Jack Harbour. The visit is to make sure that message is delivered through awareness for the people to consider that this festive season must be celebrated in peaceful way.”

PPC Lenialu says, “Awareness on safe travelling by sea also conveyed to boat users since there were number of warnings been made by Meteorological Service. Some communities did urge Police to make regular visits to their community since its first of its kind to see big number of officers visiting their community.”

Mr Lenialu says, “Barasipo and Rarumana on Parara Island police also visit them and conducted an awareness talk on sea safety.”

He says, “Police are for the people and I mention that you are not abandoned, so for the community to be crime free, working together with the Police is most needed.”

PPC also want to thank his hard working officers to be able to reach out to these communities as part of this festive season operation.
