Malaita Province Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Inspector Peter Kinita is pleased with support of chiefs and various community leaders that make the work of police easier during the festive seasons.

Supervising PPC Kinita says, “So far the Christmas and New Year 2019 festivity have been very good in Malaita Province unlike the previous festivity in 2017-2018 a death at the Auki Travellers Motel.”

He adds: Given the fact the Malaita Province has been peaceful, there are some few reports my officers attended over the recent festivity, but not serious cases. Since 27 December 2018 to 2 January 2019, five cases recorded with five arrests. Two of the cases for drunk and disorderly behaviour, one case for consuming liquor in public and two cases for domestic violence. All suspects for these cases have been charged and release on bail to appear before the Auki Magistrate Court on later dates. The suspects’ ages range from 20-40 years.”

“My traffic team has mounted traffic checks and warned 18 vehicles for overloading and unlicensed vehicle during the period, and what really encouraging drivers of the vehicles have been cooperative with my officers,” says Inspector Kinita.

The PPC thank his officers for the awareness talk that has been conducted in the streets of Auki during the festivity that really help to remind and educate most of our people at Auki to be law abiding citizens.

The Supervising Commander also thank chiefs, Church, leaders, NGOs, his officers for greater support and commitment for maintaining peace for lovely people of Malaita Province and Solomon Island. He appeals to the good people in Malaita Province and any visitors to that province to work together with the police to make 2019 another peaceful and enjoyable year for all.
