The RSIPF is aware of an article published in the Island Sun on Tuesday 1 December 2015, titled ‘PM defies police advice on Skyline: Opposition’.The RSIPF is concerned that sensitive police documents have been released to the media and will conduct a full and thorough investigation into this matter. In addition, to correct the record, on Tuesday 29 September 2015 the Commissioner of Police did not meet with the Honourable Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, as the Prime Minister was out of the country. The Fortnightly Security Briefing was instead delivered to the then Acting Prime Minister. As this is an intelligence matter, it is not appropriate to discuss the contents of the document, however the information provided was delivered as preliminary information requiring further development. The Commissioner of Police requests that all parties respect the independence of the police so police can continue to investigate and make operational policing decisions without undue influence. No further comment will be provided by the RSIPF.
