Police investigate assault incident in Guadalcanal

Police at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province is investigating an alleged assault incident that occurred at the Lela Beach, Kakabona in North West Guadalcanal on 23 January 2019.

It is alleged the incident happened after the two suspects abducted the victim from the Henderson area and took him down to the Lela Beach where they allegedly assaulted him.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “The suspects allegedly used a nine chaku weapon to assault the victim resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries to his forehead and face.”

PPC Manetoga explains, “The victim was assisted to White River Police Station and he was taken to the National Referral Hospital for treatment.”

“The investigation into the incident is still continuing and I appeal to both parties to refrain from taking the law in to their own hands,” says PPC Manetoga

He adds: “The suspects are yet to be arrested and I call on any member of the public who may know their whereabouts to get in touch with my officers.”
