Police investigate traffic accident
Officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) Kukum Traffic Centre are investigating a collision between two vehicles on the Kukum Highway at the road junction leading up to the Florence Young School in East Honiara on 5 February 2019.
Director of the RSIPF Traffic Department, Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “My officers attended a report of the collision of the two vehicles. One of the driver was tested with random breath testing (RBT) at the spot but was negative while the other driver allegedly escaped police after being taken for medical attention.”
“I appeal to the driver who escaped to surrender himself to police at the Kukum Traffic Centre, as we know his identity. It is an offence under the Road and Transportation Act not to report yourself to police once you have been involved in an accident,” says Director Satu.
Both drivers and a passenger in one of the vehicles sustained injuries and were taken to the National Referral Hospital for treatment.
It is alleged one of the vehicles was travelling along the Kukum High Way heading in the westerly direction while another vehicle instead of stopping on the waiting bay he turn into the road leading up to the Florence Young School when the alleged collision took place. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
