RSIPF record less traffic incidences in Honiara during the past week
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) National Traffic Department have recorded a total of 10 traffic incidences in the period 1 to 7 February 2019 for Honiara, compared to the 44 reports received during the previous week.
“This week, we have a total of four careless driving, one for permitting unlicensed motor vehicle, one permitting uninsured motor vehicle, three for presence of alcohol and another one permitting unlicensed driver,” says Director Traffic, Superintendent Fred Satu.
He adds: “This is a significant drop in traffic incidences in Honiara and I want to thank my officers for their hard work during the past weeks. And I must also thank members of the public for starting to heed the road safety messages that the police have been sending out. This type of good behaviour must be encouraged.”
“As we can see, there are four drivers arrested for careless driving followed by presence of alcohol in person’s blood. We need to be reminded that there are also other road users out there,” says Superintendent Satu.
He adds: “I would also like to remind the general public to continue to abide by our traffic laws. They are there to safeguard us.”
The accused have been charged for their respective offences and bailed to appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates Court at their respective dates.
