Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred at the head office of the Elites Enterprises (SI) Limited at Ranadi in East Honiara on 8 February 2018.

It is alleged that at around 1 am on Friday 8 February 2018, a group of around 15 to 20 masked men entered the company’s compound and ransacked the head office including residents at the same building.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime Prevention and National Capital, Simpson Pogeava says, “The suspects were believed to be armed with bush knives and pieces of iron. It is alleged that some of the men also wore police uniforms including baseball hats.”

He adds: “It is further alleged that during the incident the victims were ordered to stay together in the living room and watched by some of the armed men whilst their home and office were looted.”

“After getting what they wanted the suspects took two company vehicles and drove away. The valuable items that were allegedly stolen are worth around $50,000.00,” AC Pogeava explains.

He says, “An investigation into this matter is ongoing as the suspects are yet to be arrested. I call on neighbours and the public to provide information on the incident to police.”

“Unfortunately reports of burglaries and robberies have increased in East Honiara recently where homes and offices have been robbed.”

“I would like to remind our communities to assist police with whatever information that might assist with investigations. Police in Naha can be contacted on phone 39608 or the Naha CID on 22200. You can also call the National Police Communication Centre on 23666 or the toll free 999,” says AC Pogeava.
